Intermediate Photography is a course that aims to broaden the students knowledge of photography by encouraging experimentation with various materials and techniques. Through a rotational approach, students are introduced to historical photography techniques, such as wet-based darkroom and non-silver alternative processes, as well as book arts, to explore how these techniques can enhance contemporary vision. Alongside these technical explorations, students will engage in assigned readings and discussions that address current issues surrounding photography. Projects will focus on innovation, experimentation, and developing a unique approach to image-making that challenges preconceived ideas and photographic boundaries. The course emphasizes critical thinking and integrates it with practical work through lecture, technical demonstrations, image presentations, group critiques, and in-class work time. The course meets for six hours per week. [AH]
